Opening hours
The library is usually open all day, every day to staff and resident students
The library is open to external readers and borrowers by appointment only, and only between the hours of 10.30am and 4pm Monday to Friday.
If the volunteer staff are away you may find yourself unable to access the library. We recommend that
you phone or email in advance of any intended visit.

Using the library if you are not a FISC
student or staff member:
We are glad to receive strangers to read and consult
books in our library, and we look forward to getting to
know you. But we do ask some things:
- We ask all intending visitors to contact us by phone
or email first to discuss the time and purpose of your
visit.
- Where possible, we ask you to bring a letter of
introduction from your librarian or tutor, if you are
working or studying at an academic institution, or
from your local priest if you are not an academic or
student.
- All visitors are required to register at reception
on arrival and to wear a visitor's ID badge while in
our buildings, and once you reach the library, we may
ask you to register as an external library user.
External library users may read books and journals in
the library (for which there is no charge), but may
not borrow items.
- Once you know us, and we know you, you may wish to
apply for
library membership as a borrower.
Membership is subject to your application being
accepted, and to the payment of a modest annual fee.
A summary of the library rules as they apply to
external users is available here, and details of fees
may be found here.
